Words of Welcome

(Stand Up)

  1. OPENING HYMN : HOLY, HOLY, HOLY (SUCI, SUCI, SUCI-KJ. 2:1-3)

1) Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

2) Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim, falling down before Thee,
which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

3) Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee,
perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

  1. INVOCATION

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  1. PSALM READING (RESPONSIVE READING) : Psalm 73:23-26, 28

73:23 Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.

73:24 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.

73:25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

73:28 But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.

  1. THANKSGIVING PRAYER, CONFESSION of SIN

  1. LAW OF GOD – THE GREAT COMMANDMENT (Matthew 22:37-40)

22:37 Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

22:38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

22:39 And the second is like it: ’Love your neighbor as yourself.’

22:40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

  1. HYMN : HIDE ME NOW UNDER YOUR WINGS (LINGKUPIKU)

Hide me now under Your wings
Cover me within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar

I will soar with You above the storm

Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God

Find rest my soul in Christ alone
Know His power in quietness and trust

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
And I will be still, know You are God

  1. PROCLAMATION : THE WORD OF GOD
  2. SCRIPTURE READING : Ephesians 2:8

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God —

HYMN : AS THE DEER PANTETH FOR THE WATER (SEPERTI RUSA RINDU SUNGAIMU)

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

SERMON TEXT : 2 Corinthians 12:1-10

12:1 I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.

12:2       I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know —God knows.

12:3       And I know that this man —whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows —

12:4 was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell.

12:5 I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses.\

12:6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say,

12:7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.

12:8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.

12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

12:10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

  1. THE APOSTLE’S CREED (CONFESS IN UNISON)

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen

  1. HYMN : THE OLD RUGGED CROSS (NUN DI BUKIT YANG JAUH-NKB 83:1-2)

1) On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain : So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.

2) O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary.
[Refrain]

(Stand Up)

  1. THE LORD’S PRAYER (Pray in Unison)

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen

  1. CLOSING HYMN : LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS (INDAH MULIA, BAHAGIA PENUH-NKB. 129:1-2)

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
